Most of my career has been spent somewhere a mistake costs real money, so I learned to design for the day something breaks rather than the day of the demo. I do the same work for small businesses now, at a size that makes sense for them — the same care about what happens when it goes wrong, without the enterprise price tag. The part I'm best at is translation: turning "we're drowning in quotes" into something that actually gets built, and actually holds up.
